Christian Theology and Natural Science

£9.99

Product description

Very good condition hardback. Some wear to dust jacket, otherwise cover has only minimal damage. Tight binding. Internally clean and bright.

While theology and science are autonomous disciplines, neither of which has to accept its conclusions from the other, there are a number of regions in which they can make contact and in which important things about that contact can be said. Such is the fundamental thesis of the 1956 Bampton Lectures which were given by Dr. Mascall, and which form the text of this book.

The whole work is dominated by the conviction that the opportunities for fruitful discussion between theologians and scientists today are in fact greater than they have been for centuries, and that while the relations between them in the past have often shown a lack of mutual understanding which has at times risen to the level of hostility, and which at any epoch there are likely to be differences between the current teachings of theology and science which are not immediately resoluble, the notion of a fundamental conflict is altogether baseless.
