History of Latin Christianity, Including That of the Popes to the Pontificate of Nicolas V - Six Volume Set.

£120.00

Product description

A set of six volumes which contain Milman's full History, ending with a comprehensive index in volume six. Henry Milman had a brilliant prize-winning university career and a distinguished ecclesiastic life. He was appointed Dean of St Paul's in 1849 and is buried in St. Paul's Cathedral. The books are attractively bound in blue cloth with a soft leather-like feel, decorated with gilt designs and gilt ridged edges. Some of the gilt is worn, particularly on lower edges, the covers have general handling marks and occasional surface scuffing; corners and spine ends have rubbing wear, some corners are slightly frayed; the spine colour has slightly faded. Inside pages are clean and are very lightly tanned around the outer margins. A former owner's name and partial address is printed neatly in small type on the inside of the front free end paper of volume 1; this volume also has a list of nine notes written in pencil on the rear free end paper. All end papers are marbled, the same rich pattern is printed on text block edges. All volumes are soundly bound. The books will be of particular interest to historians and students of Christianity.
A scarce, high-value and heavy item which necessitates insured courier delivery.
