Daphne was personal secretary to her father John Barber, who was managing director of Victory Transport Ltd, a past Chairman of the Southampton Football Club, and a former President of the Rotary Club. She met her future husband at her church, now Avenue St. andrew's in Southampton and became a minister's wife, working in Newcastle under Lyme and tilehurst, Reading.
a mother of three children she wrote a comprehensive bible study, The Road to Emmaus, widely used in the 1960's to 1980's in the British Isles, Australia, New Zealand, U.S.a, Fiji, africa, India, Russia (Soviet Union) and Arabia.
David and Daphne Mills became part of the Foundation Trust run by Rev. Michael Harper, and later joined Sir tom and Lady Lees in their work at Post Green community, Dorset.
