Small book with a black hard cover with gilt titles on the spine, the cover is in very good condition. The dust jacket is also in very good condition with only some slight bending along the upper and lower edges. The spine is not sunned. Internally the book is clean, bright and tightly bound. The book is illustrated with full colour photographs and maps. The book results from a symposium held in the Adriatic between 5 and 11 June 2002 under the aegis of Religion, Science and the Environment, a charity based in London and Athens. It was the fourth symposium of its kind and took place on a voyage in the Adriatic, the three previous voyages had visited the Aegean, the Black Sea and the Danube. It is edited by Neal Ascherson and Andrew Marshall. The chapter headings are: 1. A Sea At Risk: The Adriatic, 2. A Unity of Purpose: Environmental Ethics, 3. The Beginning and the End: Theological Insights, 4. Troubled Waters: Reclaiming Common Space?, 5. The Venice Declaration.
