An Introduction To Soil Mechanics and Foundations Second Edition

£17.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Applied Science Publishers Ltd., London, 1975. Cloth Hardback. Book Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Good. Unnamed (illustrator). Second Edition Reprint. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book Description : 1975, Revised Second Edition blue cloth hardback with original dustjacket; 361 pages with diagrams, tables, charts, and technical drawings; appendix contains the finite element method; G/nearG.

Lecturer and Civil Engineer, C.R. Scott, provides a logical and comprehensive text book specially designed for undergraduates of civil engineering. It should also prove useful to those involved in foundation work and earth structures. Aware of the pitfalls of civil engineering, Scott's approach is to describe, explain, and alert students fully so that civil engineering errors are avoided. To this end, he introduces the student to the complete range of relevant issues (pore pressure, stress, and suction; permeability and seepage; consolidation and shear strength etc.) together with a more detailed explanation of the way different soils behave and respond under different conditions. The author encourages students to take a more critical look at traditional methods of analysis and design, and appreciate the singular importance of geology and geotechnical processes. Site investigations and working examples are provided to keep the emphasis on applying what has been learnt. Charts and tables, formulae and technical drawings elucidate and give greater depth of understanding, and there are site investigations and working examples. This revised and expanded edition makes use of the SI system.

Book Condition : Good : slight bumping to head and foot of spine cover; slight fading around far edges; several minor and small markings to cloth; spine gilding intact and bright; any denting of corners very minor; slight yellowing to faces and endpapers; otherwise inner pages are near original white, clean, and crisp; binding is secure and sound.
DJ Condition : near Good : spine area of jacket is very sunfaded but front cover colour is good; mild yellowing to inner flaps; minor shelfwear at edges and corners; two edge tears have been repaired neatly at inside of jacket; slight rubbing/scuffing appearing more at back of jacket; not clipped.
