This first volume of a two-volume work covering four semesters of calculus, analytic geometry, linear algebra, differential equations, and related topics, is intended to span the first two semesters. It presents much of the material found in the first sixteen chapters of Morrey's University Calculus, treating the topics in virtually the same order as in that text. However, here the pace has been adjusted by devoting more attention to elementary topics, by providing additional illustrative examples, and by adding intuitive explanations of many of the fundamental concepts. Furthermore, the proofs of some of the more difficult theorems in the book by Morrey have been eliminated. Physical applications are emphasized wherever suitable and there is a large selection of graded exercises. Definitions and theorems are stated with care and precision, and the proofs of simple theorems are given in full.
Very good page condition, some wear and marks around the edges.
