Health care needs assessment

£55.00

Product description

Radcliffe Medical Press, Oxford, 1997. Hardback. Book Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition - Second Series. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. BOOK DESCRIPTION : 1997, 1st Edition, 2nd Series hardback of 559 pages with an introduction, an index, various appendices to each chapter, and tables, charts etc.; in Very Good Condition. The Heath Care Needs Assessment series presents, in a systematic way, expert knowledge which can be usefully used by purchasers of health care in the UK, and anyone else whose role it is to assess and meet health care needs. This volume addresses the fundamental questions of health care assessment concerned with the population/or patients who will benefit, the incidence/and or prevalence of a health problem, how effective treatment will be (ie. curative, palliative etc.), service provision, cost-effectiveness, and finding the optimum set of health services.

Each of the 8 chapters is written by specialist(s) in a particular area of health care whether that health area is classified by disease, service, or speciality. The chapters are : Accident & Emergency Departments, Child & Adolescent Mental Health, Low Back Pain, Palliative & Terminal Care, Dermatology, Breast Cancer, Genitourninary Medicine Services, Gynaecology. Health care needs assessments are thereby put into practice, and the reader is given a clear picture of the issues to be considered at each and every stage of the health care provision process. A common approach is used for each chapter.

Chapter contents typically include : a summary, a statement of the problem, sub-categories, prevalence and incidence, services available, effectiveness of services, models of care, outcome measures, targets, and further information and research priorities. The 8 reports of this 2nd series volume use the same importance criteria as the 1st series where importance was defined in terms of burden of disease (mortality, morbidity and cost), the likely scope for changing patterns of purchasing, and the wish to see a wide range of topics to test the method use for needs assessment. BOOK CONDITION : VG : minor bumping to head and foot, and very minor denting; minor rubbing; covers in presentable shape; trace green print to top of front face, otherwise faces near original white; ffep has a health authority stamp and inscription; inside pages in a near new condition with only a hint of toning; binding strong and secure.
