Infections of the Hand

£14.99

Product description

Allen B. Kanavel (1874–1938) was an American doctor who became professor of surgery at Northwestern in 1919, he was associate editor and later editor of the Journal of Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics. In 1920 he established the Department of Neurological Surgery at Northwestern University and was named Chairman of the department. His interest was infections of the hand, and his 1912 monograph on the subject was considered a milestone in hand surgery.
This volume is covered in maroon cloth with gilt lettering to the front and spine. It is an ex library copy and bears several stamps, for instance District Infirmary Ashton Under Lyne Feb 3 1915 in an oval border at the front, a smaller, rectangular, unframed District Infirmary Ashton Under Lyne stamp on the title page, the same on page 167 and on the reverse of the final index page.
Despite moderate wear to the edges and corners, also the front free end paper has been removed and the webbing is now exposed, all text is clear, b/w medical diagrams and photographs also.
As an added bonus, there is a blank sheet of writing paper, printed at the top is "District Infirmary, Ashton-Under-Lyne" with a small printed logo to the left of that, " National Scheme For Disabled Men"; presumably the writing paper also dates from 1912.
