The proceedings contain five invited lectures and 99 papers relevant to landslide occurrence and problems from Europe, Asia, America, Africa and Australia and New Zealand. The five special invited lectures deal with a variety of important aspects of landslides, from prediction to landslide remediation. The majority of aspects of landslide occurrence are covered in three thematic sections.
Theme 1 is related to landslide causes, types and mechanisms. The papers include conditions and triggering factors, types and mechanisms, landslide registration, inventory and hazard zonation. Theme 2 is related to landslides in the Alps and Carpathians. Theme 3 is related to landslides and engineering structures, prevention and remedial works. Also included in the papers are field and laboratory investigations, stability analysis, numerical modelling, slope monitoring and landslide risk management, and types of remedial works.
