The subtitle of the book is: 'Proceedings of the Symposium on the Theoretical Background to the Planning of Open Pit Mines with Special Reference to Slope Stability'. The symposium was held in Johannesburgh in 1970 and was attended by many world experts. The book contains the papers and addresses presented at the symposium, and provides a vade-mecum for all engineers involved in this important aspect of mining. The book has gilt titles on blue cloth boards, which have some light surface marks; spine ends bumped amd worn; corners have light surface wear. The book is slightly cocked from the back to the front. Owner's name, with date July 1971, written in ink to top of front free end paper. The jacket has general marks and some slight soiling areas on the white rear cover. Some creases to edges, and spine ends and corners have small open and closed tears and chips up to approx. 5mm.
