The Glorious Grouse

£24.99

Product description

Brian Martin traces the story of the red grouse from earliest times to the present, detailing how grouse-shooters have been prepared to go to enormous trouble and expense to follow their sport. Aspects of natural history such as breeding, lifespan and disease, and good moorland management are also discussed.
Book condition is nearly fine, the boards and text block edges having a few light marks. In addition to the author's signed dedication in black ink, there is an owner's gift dedication in blue ink written on the front free end paper. The jacket has light creasing to the edges and corners, and some general handling indentation marks on the glossy surface. With many b/w photographs and some in colour, this is an essential book for both experienced and novice Guns as well as the birdwatcher, conservationist and social historian.
