The dust jacket is also in very good condition with signs of rubbing and wear, there are some marks of a liquid spillage on the front. The dust jacket is price clipped. There are two illustrations within this book, the frontispiece which is a drawing of a map and a piece of script taken from the Lord of the Rings. Internally the book is clean, bright and tightly bound. This book was first published in 1988, this is a first reprint, also in 1988. The book is part 6 of J R R Tolkien's The History of Middle-Earth, but it is subtitled The History of the Lord of the Rings Part One. The series is edited by Christopher Tolkien.
