Textbook of Small Arms 1929

£24.99

Product description

The textbook of Small Arms, which appears to have been first printed in 1863, was a thin volume specially intended for Officers under instruction at the School of Musketry at Hythe. Reprints or revised editions, called for by changes in armament, appeared in 1869, 1877 and 1880. The next edition, that of 1884, was almost entirely re-written; it bore the title of "Treatise on Military Small Arms and Ammunition ... A Textbook for the Army." There were further editions in 1894, 1904 and 1909.

This edition retains the name Textbook. It has however, been almost completely re-written.

Hard back book. No dust jacket. Ex-library book and has classification number on the spine, the remains of a library sticker and numerous library and 'Withdrawn for Sale' stamps. The cover is in poor condition. It is loose and there is damage to the spine. Lettering on the spine is coloured, but the lettering on the front cover has lost its colour. There is a correction slip attached to the contents page which covers two pages in the book and the cover where the title has been written as 'Textbook for Small Arms', rather then 'of Small Arms.'

Internally the pages, text, illustrations, photographs and fold-out sheets are in very good condition.
