DEDICATED BY AUTHOR "To 'Lord L.' of p.167, with the authors kindest regards." Also signed on the inside front cover "Lind". Lind and "Lord L." refer to the Earl of Lindsay, probably John Trotter Lindsay, the Tenth Earl. The Earls and Lords of Lindsay date back to 1445.
