Adlard Coles' Heavy Weather Sailing

£19.99

Product description

Near Fine book in near Fine dust jacket. However there is a liquid stain on the lower edge which extends 1cm or so onto the lower margin of some of the pages. Apart from this stain the book is in Fine condition. Heavy Weather Sailing has long reigned as the ultimate international authority on surviving storms at sea aboard sailing and motor vessels. The book brings a wealth of expert advice from many of the great sailors of the present, followed by fresh accounts of yachts, both sail and power, overtaken by extreme weather. Techniques for coping with heavy seas are explored, seasick remedies proposed, there are lessons to be learnt for those in command, and a detailed analysis of meteorological conditions leading up to a storm. This is the book for crews of any size contemplating voyages out of sight of land anywhere in the world, whether racing or cruising. It gives a clear message of the sort of preparations required, and the tactics which should be considered when it comes on to blow.

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
