Guide to Angling in Southern Scotland

£10.99

Product description

Two little booklets one produced in 1939 and the second edition of ten years later. Sub title "A handbook for anglers including hints for beginners". Three fold out maps. Text interspersed with advertisements and a couple of black and white photographs.

Paperbacks published by Robert Dinwoodie 1939 nd 1949. There is an oblique crease of the lower front corner of the cover and a small area of the bottom of the spine cover is missing. In the 1949 book Otherwise this, considering their age and fragile nature, is a remarkably clean pair little books with good binding although the staples show a little rust; there are no other marks.

Sold as a pair the 1949 bringing up to date the permits and prices. I particularly liked the addendum to the 1939 preface "As we go to press information has just come to hand that the price of the Upper Annandale daily permit for trout fishing has been reduced to 2/5". Those were the days!

An echo from the past!
