Learning to Fly

£9.99

Product description

This is a Forgotten Books Classic reprint, therefore a facsimile (printed to order).

Grahame-White was a British aviator and author of books on aviation, mostly in the period before 1920. This is his advice to Englishmen who wanted to learn to fly in 1916. By this time, flying schools were common so a good deal of his advice deals with picking the right one. Picking the right school was important because there were many which were carelessly run or taught on older principles, which could kill you!
Grahame-White also recognises the importance of temperament in would-be pilots. A pilot needed a cool head, a cautious attitude and the ability to make the right decision quickly. This was even more important then than it is now, considering the lack of safety measures in those days.

In clean, near fine condition, would make an unusual gift.
