An illustrated monthly magazine of sport, travel and recreation, issues April-September, 1891, here published in a bound volume.
Articles include an early account of New England tennis by James Dwight, features by J Parmly Paret, and a story of tennis interest by Earle Baldwin. It also covers many other sports, travel and poetry.
Half leather binding. The spine originally bore gilt lettering but this is mostly worn away. The cover is somewhat worn on corners, spine and edges. There is a name of a previous owner in ink on the front fixed end paper, neatly written and dated 1986; the ffep is split along the spine, exposing the webbing. Speckled text block edges are a little age toned, however all text pages are clear, as are the numerous b/w diagrams and excellent pen and ink illustrations accompanying many of the articles. There are also a number of photographic plates.
