Race Against Time

£29.99

Product description

FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY BOTH AUTHORS; Green leather/faux leather cover, with gilt titles on the spine, in very good condition. The dust jacket is discoloured near the top on both the front and back. Inside the front and back covers and across the end papers there is a map of the main Four Peaks area served by the cave rescue organisation. Written by both Jim Eyre and Dr John Frankland with a foreword by Mike Harding. Jim Eyre was an active caver for over forty years and one of the original explorers of Easegill Caverns - England's longest. Dr John Frankland is rightly known in Britain, the USA and beyond as 'the' cave-rescue doctor, with as much or more hands-on experience of cave accident victims than anyone else in the world. Race Against Time tells the story of the Cave Rescue Organisation - from its formation in 1935 through more than a thousand rescues up to the present day (1988). Over half a century of tragedy and comedy, heroism and high farce, reflecting the unstinting hard work of thousands of volunteers over the years.
