The Big Book of Sling and Rope Braids - Patterns for Over 250 Braids

WAS £34.99 £17.49

Product description

Published in 1996 by Cassell.

This work explains the ancient art of rope braiding in straightforward, step-by-step instructions and illustrations. It looks at two families of braids - Peruvian, traditionally used as slings for hunting or in war, and Japanese braids, known as "kumihimo". More than 50 different braid designs which incorporate over 250 patterns. The equipment used to make the braids in this book ranges from small slotted boards to the traditional Japanese braiding stool, the "maru dai". Flat, round, square and hollow braids are shown, and instruction progresses from the most simple 4-strand design through to 8- and 16-strand examples, building on skills learned at the beginning.

Illustrated throughout by a mix of colour photographs, diagrams and line drawings. Includes a useful index.

There is an inscription in the front reading: 'Judy Poole 15.99'.

This is the first paperback edition and is a very good clean condition.
