The Compleat Angler

£14.99

Product description

The Compleat Angler is a brief book; Walton's intent is to hook the reader, and encourage them to try fishing for themselves: "I do not undertake to say all that is known... but I undertake to acquaint the Reader with many things that are not usually known to every Angler; and I shall leave gleanings and observations enough to be made out of the experience that all that love and practice this recreation, to which I shall encourage them." Although the Folio Society have since brought out a new edition, there is still a simple appeal to this earlier volume. Held in a plain grey slipcase, it is bound in green cloth, with no adornment except the lozenges on the spine containing the titles in grey and gold. The grey end papers have a simple vignette of a trout and there are some pen and ink sketches within the text. Although the slip case bears evidence of moderate wear and marks commensurate with age the book itself is in fine condition.
