Claud Worth takes us on journeys around Britain in a variety of different yachts , including along the south-west coast of Ireland, the Bay of Biscay, the west coast of France and the Hebrides. The practical guidance given in his Yacht Cruising has proved invaluable. The mysteries of sails, spars, standing rigging, running rigging, timber, painting and varnishing are fully explained. He also has a beautiful turn of phrase ‘...a love of the sea with some seems almost innate, to others it may come late in life; but no man who has loved the sea can forsake her, ever.’
Bound in light blue cloth which is a little faded and aged, there is wear to corners and on the bumped spine ends; foxing to the text block edge and on the interior, but the text is clear. Contains numerous drawings, maps and some b/w photographs. A drawing dated 1932 has been neatly pasted onto the front end paper. There is a dedication in pencil on the front free end paper reading: "George R Holmes from Claud Worth 1926."
