How to enter

Flickr submissions
To enter this competition via Flickr please use the link below and follow the steps provided, once you have completed your steps your creation will automatically be submitted into the prize draw. www.flickr.com/groups/oxfamdiy/

 

Email submissions
To enter the competition via email please ensure that you supply the following details:

  • name (first name only is fine)
  • age
  • location
  • occupation
  • a note about your garment and the inspiration behind it*
  • photograph of your creation

* if your customised item appears in the photo as part of an outfit, please identify it for us!

Oxfam DIY ‘Mrs Jones’ Design Competition Terms & Conditions

Specific Rules
1. This promotion is open to British citizens who are currently resident in the United Kingdom. Entrants must be aged 16 years or over.

This excludes people who took part in the direct or indirect preparation of the promotion and their families (same name, same postal address) and members of staff of Oxfam GB (the “Promoter”)

The Promoter reserves the right to postpone, modify, cancel or renew the promotion if circumstances demand. In any event, its liability cannot be brought to bear in this respect.

2. To enter this promotion, you must create an original garment, either by customising an existing garment or creating a new garment from recycled materials, and upload a photograph of the garment to http://www.flickr.com/groups/oxfamdiy/ (the “Website”) according to the specifications set out in paragraph 4 below (the “Specifications”).

3. This promotion opens on 24 June 2009 and closes for entries at 23:59 GMT on 22nd July 2009. This is a free competition.

4. Entry Specifications
Entries must:

  • be submitted as JPEG, GIF (non-animated) or PNG files and can be of any resolution and file size up to a maximum of 20Mb;
  • not contain any indecent or obscene material (for example nudity, pornography or profanity);
  • not infringe any laws or third party rights;
  • not invade the privacy of any person, company or entity;
  • not include or portray any activities, statements or images which are discriminatory, offensive, obscene or defamatory or which may cause offence to others on grounds of nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, faith or disability; and
  • comply with the user content provisions outlined in paragraph 16.


5. You understand that the Promoter does not monitor all submissions to the Website and is under no obligation to do so. However, Promoter reserves the right to monitor submissions to the Website and, without notice, to edit, delete or remove any content that Promoter deems in its sole discretion to be inappropriate.

6. You may submit as many entries as you like, but you may only win one prize. Although the intention is to provide the prize described, if circumstances prevent this, the Promoter reserves the right to offer a cash alternative.

7 .All entries will be judged on originality and most creative use of recycled and 2nd hand materials. A shortlist will be drawn up by the fashion team at Oxfam head office and submitted to Fee Doran aka Mrs Jones for consideration for the prize.

8. The decision of the judge is final and no correspondence may be entered into.

9. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries lost due to failure in the service of the Flickr website.

10. The top 5 entries and overall winner will be selected within 7 days of the closing date specified above.

11. Prizes:
- The overall winner will win a custom garment designed by Mrs Jones and their winning garment will be featured on the online pages.
- The top 5 entries as judged by Mrs Jones will be displayed on Oxfam online for as long as the Promoter so wishes.

12. The winner will be notified by a message to their personal email account inbox or Flickr account inbox within 10 days after the closing date and must claim their prize within 30 days after the notification. If the message from the Promoter informing the winner, sent to the email account entered by the entrant, is returned or if a reply is not received from the winner within 8 days of the date of dispatch, the winner will be disqualified and his or her prize awarded to the winner in the next place, without it being possible to invoke the liability of the Promoter.

The top 5 entries, not including the overall winner, will be notified by a message to their personal email account inbox or Flickr account inbox within 10 days after the closing date and their photo will be displayed on Oxfam online within 10 days after the notification.

13. Prizes shall be dispatched by registered post to the address specified by the entrant in their prize acceptance e-mail unless the entrant gives the Promoter reasonable notice of an alternative address. The Promoter will use reasonable endeavours to dispatch the prize within 21 days of the acceptance email subject to receiving necessary specifications for the bespoke garment (e.g. size, gender) but does not accept any responsibility for prizes that are dispatched later than this.

14. You agree that (unless applicable law requires otherwise) any right that you have under applicable law to cancel ends when the prize draw is announced. If thereafter you cannot participate in or receive any prize for reasons beyond your reasonable control, you must notify the Promoter and the Promoter may in its absolute discretion give that prize to someone else. You may not otherwise give any tickets or prize or assign or transfer any other rights or obligations in connection with these terms and conditions.

15. The Promoter may terminate these terms and conditions and the prize draw if it becomes necessary to do so due to circumstances beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control.

16. You accept sole responsibility for any text, video, audio, images, photographs or any other materials or content you provide for the Website. Please use any available community tools responsibly. In particular, do not post content that infringes the law or third party rights, or which includes activities or statements which are discriminatory, offensive, obscene or defamatory or which may cause offence to others on grounds of nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, faith or disability. You should not use the Website for any commercial purpose.

17. By submitting an entry to this Promotion, you grant to the Promoter a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free and fully transferable right to use, copy, modify, publish and display any content which you post on or upload to the Website, and to incorporate it in other works. You waive any moral rights, which you may have in this content. You represent and warrant that you have all rights and have obtained all consents necessary to grant the rights set out in this paragraph and elsewhere in these rules. By way of example only, possible uses of [your photograph of your entry] by the Promoter include, without limitation, broadcast television advertising, email campaigns, consumer brochures, print advertising, point-of-sale promotional material, packaging for Oxfam GB products, public-relations material and press releases, posters and on the Promoter's websites and by submitting a photograph of your entry to the Website you consent to the Promoter using your entry for such purposes.

18. The Promoter may, at its sole discretion, publish the winner's name and county of residence on the Promoter's website. The winner's details (name and country) will be made available on request to those enclosing a stamped SAE marked “Oxfam DIY Mrs Jones Competition” to the following address: Oxfam House, John Smith Drive, Cowley, Oxford OX4 2JY within 10 weeks of the closing date specified above. Do not send entries to this address. Entries will only be accepted through the Website.
