Arshak Galayan (right) gets a lesson in pruning from agronomist Vardan Eliazyan, in his Armenian orchard. It’s part of a training programme run by his local farmers’ association to help farmers grow more – and better – produce. They’re learning ots of new, low-tech ways to get more from their land, with funds from Oxfam Unwrapped. Arshak is pleased with what he’s learned. “I’m expecting a good harvest this year end,” he says. And, once he’s sold the surplus in the local market, his young family will benefit from his increased income.
