Did you know...
Can’t remember if an egg is fresh or hard boiled? Just spin the egg. If it wobbles, it’s raw. If it spins easily, it’s hard boiled. A fresh egg will sink in water, a stale one will float.

Now that you have your gift, we can give the real thing to the people who need it most!
Food security used to be a big issue for people in Cap Rouge and La Montagne, Haiti. Now Madame Ulrick Avril keeps herself out of poverty by playing chicken.
In 2008 Oxfam Unwrapped bought 300 laying hens to establish a chicken colony – meaning plenty of nest eggs for the ‘plucky’ local people. As well as the chickens, we funded feed, hen houses, water troughs, veterinary services, drugs and treatment, plus training for the whole community in managing and maintaining their animals, all backed up with a campaign to raise awareness about food security and nutrition.
The project will help vulnerable people in these communities to develop sustainable livelihoods, with the bonus of supporting the wider community by strengthening local organisations, and increasing the production of food locally.
It’s amazing what you can get out of a chicken, isn’t it?
