Folk was set up to combat the growing problem of men leaving their families in rural areas of Bangladesh to find work in cities. Migrants moving to cities are often exploited as they are unprepared for the different way of life.
Folk provides work for around 550 artisans in rural areas so that they can remain living at home to support their families. It also supports them by providing interest free loans, group insurance, and free accommodation where required.
