Gone Rural was an organisation founded in the early 1970's to empower women to sell and market their traditional crafts to local and international markets.
80% of the producers for Gone Rural rely on the company for their sole family income in a country where many have extended families with an average of 8 dependants due to the destruction of a generation by the AIDs virus. In 2007, Gone Rural founded a non-profit organisation, to support the women artisans and their communities through health and education programmes.
