Reproduction Victorian Majolica Beehive Cheese Dome

£90.00

Product description

This cheese dome is in the style of mid Victorian Majolica Blackberry Beehive examples by Minton, but is a 20th Century reproduction. Most earlier pieces made by the " Big Name" companies such as Minton's, George Jones or Sarreguemines are well marked, but European examples by lesser known companies in France or Austria or Italy were often unmarked or with minimal marking such mold or model numbers.

During the 1980's and 90's there was also a huge run up in values for genuine majolica by the well known makers such as Minton, values reached new highs with some of the rarer genuine Minton Cheese Domes made Circa 1865 selling at auction for as much as $65,000.00. This made it a very lucrative market for reproductions. Cheese domes were just one of a great many reproductions of late 19th Century majolica produced during this period, along with reproductions of Victorian wash basin sets and Cranberry glass. These reproductions flooded the market and damaged values across the board for all but well documented examples. When identified for what they are, good quality reproduction Cheese Domes often sell for under $200.00.

Oxfam Shop Hampstead

Situated in a prime position in Hampstead Village, Oxfam Hampstead has been on this site since 1991. It was recently refurbished and we have around 30 volunteers but are always looking for new people, especially those who have experience in running an online shop. We are also looking for people who wish to gain retail experience and help sort our donations.

We stock a wide range of Fairtrade ecologically sourced and eco-friendly products, as well as a fantastic variety of donated goods, including an excellent women's clothing section with many designer labels. In the homeware section you can always find that special thing you are looking for. Not to forget the popular children's section where we have a wide selection of toys and children's clothes. Our unique selections of bespoke art works and jewellery are some of the best throughout Oxfam.

Once visited one is compelled to return time and again - in fact many of our regular customers visit every day in case they miss something!

Good quality donations including women's clothing, accessories, men's clothing, homewares, children's clothes, toys, jewellery, music and art work are all very welcome.

The shop is able to offer Gift Aid on donations and operates the 'tag a bag' scheme.
