Serving spoon, beautifully weighted, circa 1920-1930, made by James Dixon & Sons for Harrods

£12.99

Product description

This is a lovely serving spoon, perfect for the dining table. It measures about 7 1/2 inches and is beautifully weighted, this really feels great in the hand. It is bright and has only minimal signs of wear, and is made of stainless steel. This could go straight onto the table. The spoon is marked 'Firth Staybrite' and a trumpet and banner, indicating it was made by James Dixon & Sons, a significant British flatware producer, probably between about 1920 (when Firth Staybrite began to be used) and 1930 (when the company was amalgamated into William Hutton & Sons Ltd.). What makes this spoon really special is that it is also marked 'Harrods' indicating James Dixon & Sons made this spoon specially for the shop.
