Vintage dress yoke - gelatin sequins and glass beads

£19.99

Product description

Eye catching vintage dress yoke 14" wide x 11.5" centre front length x 20" full length from shoulder / 35.5 cm x 29 cm x 51 cm used and reclaimed. Mounted on black tulle net, the black outlines are faceted black glass flat back beads mounted on twin cord braid giving a heavy, fixed outline. The decoration is made in .25" / .5 cm pink and blue faceted flat back beads and gold coloured seed beads with black gelatin sequins filling in the three large leaf shapes. Gelatin sequins date from the 1920's and will melt if subjected to heat or water, apparently even a hot dancing partner's hand could leave a mark. This has been reclaimed and is showing its age with the weaker tulle giving way in places. There is also an old repair on the left outer edge where the design turns in to form the left side of the drop V centre front, if you compare it with the right side you will see there is a missing shape that had 3 of the larger coloured beads in it.

Oxfam Distribution Centre Bournemouth

Here at the B.D.C. we source goods for stores in the Dorset, Wiltshire and Avon area, by house collections and clearances, corporate and personal donations as well as emptying numerous textile and book banks in the area. We have been awarded the "Best National Oxfam On-Line Store" for 2009/10. All of our items have been listed by volunteers who have done a fantastic job, and we are always looking for new volunteers to help us with our on-line operation. We are not open to the public.
