Magnificent map of Berlin in bright colours from 1936 shows the city from bird’s eye view. Marked are more important buildings such as museums, churches, and train stations, and pictorial scenes show locations of a hospital, vet, market, band stand and a zoo. Flags on buildings show locations of embassies of different counties. In-set map in the upper right corner in a decorative cartouche shows locations of theatres, cinemas, concert halls and cabarets. Berlin of the late 1920s and 1930s was famous for its night life, mostly cabarets, and was referred to as "the nightclub" capital of the world. By mid 1930s the gouvernment closed most oft he contaversial night clubs and in 1935 playing jazz on public places was prohibited by law. The back of the map shows the surroundings of Berlin with pictorial details, important buildings, marked are auto-routes and highways, which were planned of being built in the future. Three in-set maps on the right-hand side show the newly built stadium for 1936 Summer Olympics, Berlin Fair and Potsdam.
