Cowboys & Trucks "Riding Hard", 1981 comp. of classic & contemporary country - GT-0082

£5.99

Product description

The main thing to say about this compilation, on Gusto Records, is stick with it beyond track one, because the rest is bliss ! I say that, because the first track is, in my humble opinion, an awful mix of Tex Ritter's 'High Noon', whereby a typically early 80s screeching synth backing track is placed next to Tex's vocals.

If you stick with the LP, you'll get some mighty good country music coming your ear's way... The various vocalists sometimes break off midway from their songs, to talk earnestly, in US accents, about things like the love of their kids and women, and how they are saving up to quit the road...Real, Soulful, Good, Country Stuff...

The reverse cover (photo four) says ... : "The spirit of rugged individualism is epitomized in the American Cowboy and his 20th century counterpart, the Trucker. Indeed, our history if full of legends about the men, both famous and anonymous, who have moved across our land in pursuit of a trail's end. This collection represent's some of the best ballads ever written about an American breed."

Side One :-
1) Tex Ritter - High Noon 2) Jimmy Wakely - Ghost Riders in the Sky 3) Dave Dudley - East Bound & Down 4) Billy Walker - El Paso 5) Tex Ritter - Green Grow the Lilacs

Side Two :- 1) Jimmy Wakely - Slipping Around 2) Red Simpson - Roll, Truck Roll 3) Dave Dudley - Rolaids, Doan's Pillls & Preparation H 4) Billy Walker - Matamoros 5) Red Simpson - Hello, I'm a Truck

Records graded visually to RRPG grades (record/sleeve) EX-/EX.
