OFFLINE 2/12/16 BANBURY @ £95. Richard Wagner's ring cycle performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Georg Solti, on the Decca label. The recordings were made between 1959 -1966.

This is a 22 record set, contained in a sturdy embossed dark green presentation box. The box front has slight wear to the top left corner.The back has a slight wear to the top left edge. The right side has a small repaired tear to the bottom left corner. The top has a small gouge to the right hand corner. Photos included.

The presentation box is sub divided to hold slip sleeves, containing the 4 individual opera recordings and the 5th is an analysis of Der Ring De Nibelungen.

There is a booklet for each opera, which includes both the libretto (German & English) and an analysis by John Culshaw.. An examination of Wagner's system of leitmotifs, partly based on extracts from the recording, by Deryck Cooke, is also included.

The original record retailer's trade stamp is in all the booklets and on the individual inner record sleeves.

Das Rheingold (1959) (records 1-3 & libretto) featuring George London as Wotan and Kirsten Flagstad as Fricka.
Sides 1,3,4, 5 & 6 are in good condition. Side 2 has a scratch.
Photos sides 1& 2 (scratch approx 10 o'clock).
Booklet has loose middle pages.
Photo included.
Slip sleeve has faded lettering on the spine. There is wear to the spine, bottom right front and to the side.

Die Walkure (1966) (records 4-8 & libretto) featuring James King as Siegmund and Birgit Nilsson as Brunnhilde.
All sides are in good condition.
Booklet is in good condition.
Slip sleeve has wear to spine and front.

Siegfried (1963) (records 9-13 & libretto) featuring Wolfgang Windgassen as Siegfried and Joan Sutherland as the Woodbird.
All sides are in good condition.
Booklet is in good condition.
Slip sleeve has crinkling to the spine.


Gotterdammerung (1965) (records 14-19 & libretto) featuring Gottlob Frick as Hagen and Lucia Popp as Woglinde.
All sides are in good condition.
Booklet in good condition.
Slip sleeve has crinkling to the spine and slight wear at the bottom of the spine.
