Janet Baker, more or less, inherited the much-coveted title of Britain's Best Contralto, after the untimely passing of Kathleen Ferrier in the Early Fifties. On this album, from the Early Seventies, she performs songs by English composers of the Early / Mid 20C, including John Ireland and Ralph Vaughan Wiliams.
