Gerard Hoffnung, graphic artist, musician and broadcaster, was born in 1925, and during an exceedingly active life, had been a schoolmaster, tuba player in a London Orchestra, free-lance cartoonist, a Fellow of the Society of Industrial Artists, the organiser of two humorous Music Festivals held in London, and a painter whose work was exhibited in various galleries.
His five books of humorous drawings about music were all best sellers.
