"Il Turco in Italia" is a sexy, comic opera, concerning Fiorilla, the man-hungry wife of Geronio, of whom she is, to quote, "bored to death with".
However, her toyboy lover, Narciso, is apparently not enough for Fiorilla, either, witness when she casts a lustful eye over dashing, dark Turk Selim (who is, at the time of their first meeting, brooding over the fact that his former female favourite, has recently run off, from his harem !)
Then, there is the poet / librettist character, Prosdocimo, in search of a good tale to record ... Put them all together, in a masked ball, where no one quite knows who anyone else actually is, and you have the recipe for a great Rossini comic/sexual opera.
The main players, in this 1958 Milan staging, were :-
