This superb, new and sealed box-set, of four compact discs, consists of : i) two CDs devoted to legendary tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, starring as Rodolfo, in Giacomo Puccini's "La Boheme" four-act opera ; ii) and the two remainder compact discs devoted to Luciano, starring in Giuseppe Verdi's three-act opera, "La Traviata", as the character, Alfredo Germont.
i) La Boheme, by Puccini (1896) :-
This opera's storyline, concerns four friends, all of whom, share a bohemian nature : poet Rodolfo ; musician Schaunard ; philosopher Colline ; and the painter Marcello ... Both the poet, and his painter friend, fall in love with two, respective old acquaintances of theirs, but stormy relationships ensue, and, eventually, all four bohemians return to their studio-based lives. (Also co-starring : Afro Poli as Schaunard ; Mario Gaetani as Colline ; Guido D'Orazi as Marcello ; Mirella Freni as (Rodolfo's lover) Mimi ; Grazia di Rocco as (Marcello's lover) Musetta ; and Luciano Pavarotti's father, tenor Fernando, as Parpignol. ii) La Traviata, by Verdi (early 1850s) :-
An opera, concerning a "fallen woman", Violetta Valery, and her subsequent fall from grace. The character of Violetta became very famous, in the earlier part of the 20C, due to Maria Callas' performances. This sixties staging, stars Luciano, as Alfredo Germont.
