This is an Early Sixties recording of Franz Lehar's 1905 three-act, operetta, featuring the Philharmonia Orchestra & Chorus, conducted by Lovro von Matacic.
The LP-sized, black-and-white booklet (photo four) that comes with the album, begins with a page full of images (photo four) of the main star singers - Elisabeth Schwarzkopf ; Nicolai Gedder ; Eberhard Wachter ; and Hanny Steffek - plus, the conductor Matacic.
It then provides some brief notes on "The Merry Widow's" early 20th century conception, with the rest of the booklet devoted to the lyrics, plus some images from the original 1905 production.
