Born in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, in 1895, Clara Haskill could already discern tunes on the piano, at the age of two ! Soon after this, she started playing the instrument. At around the age of six or seven, she was taken to Vienna, by her uncle, who was now her guardian.
In 1903, she began her piano studies with professor Richard Robert. A few months later, her performance at a children's concert, stirred musical Vienna, and her fame spread from thereon in.

Kathleen Long was, like Clara Haskill, also a child prodigy, born in London. She became famous, as one of the finest exponents of Mozart, and was the first pianist to record six of his concerti. Both pianists admired each other greatly.
