Punch & Judy Man Tony Capstick - RUB 008

£34.99

Product description

The second LP released by Tony Capstick in 1974, recorded with members of the electric folk bands Hedgehog Pie and Jack the Lad. Tony Capstick was a presenter on BBC Radio Sheffield for over thirty years. In 1981, he reached No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart with "The Sheffield Grinder" / "Capstick Comes Home", which he recorded with the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. His recitation, "Capstick Comes Home", was a humorous parody of the well-known Hovis bread television advert directed by Ridley Scott.
Outside Sheffield, he is perhaps better known as one of the policemen in the long-running British sitcom, Last of the Summer Wine, where he played the role until his death in October 2003, with his final appearance on the show broadcast in April 2004.

Side 1 (hand-etched): RUB 008 A

This vinyl has clearly been well cared for, with only minor handling wear and a few superficial surface scratches which should not adversely affect playback quality. The album cover remains strikingly colourful.
