One of Franz Lehar's most flirtatious operettas, this double-CD package, contains a 1959 recording (approximately eleven years after Lehar passed away), of "Rose de Noel", starring : Nicole Broissin as Vilma ; Andre Dassary as Count Michael Andrassy ; Rosine Bredy as Totsi ; and Henri Channaron as Lieutenant Sandor Varga ... among others.

The synopsis revolves around the exploits of the amorous Count, from Budapest. His catalogue of romantic scandals have built up, over time, and the enraged Emporer Franz Joseph - in an attempt to put an end to this woeful behaviour of the Count's doing - assigns his amorous aristocratic subordinate to a provincial town, Losoncz.

Count Michael DOES genuinely fall in love with a woman from Losoncz, and through the course of the synopsis, the couple eventually ( - after much drama has passed - ) find true, lasting happiness.
