The Crazy world of Arthur Brown Wearing pre-KISS face-paint. Emerging from London scenes with "The Devil's Grip" single, this 'God Of Hellfire' and his "Crazy World Of Arthur Brown" act lit up the late 60s. The band did much to help shape the progressive musical vision of the seventies. The single from this album, "Fire", went to No1 in the UK in August 1968.

Keyboardist Vincent Crane, fundamental in the arrangements on this work, sets the Goth-horror scene on "Prelude-Nightmare". Brown follows with a 'Doors-like' "Fanfare-Fire Poem" and into the swooping and manic "Fire". From then on in the band have the Devil by the tail, with Drachen Theaker's drumming providing a fine backbone to the skeletons that emerge from Brown's etherial revelations. There are two covers, "I Put A Spell On You" (Screamin' Jay Hawkins) and "I've Got Money" (James Brown). The other eight are written by Brown and/or Crane. Produced by Pete Townshend, there's both a mono and stereo of this. If you're looking for an experience of UK musical directions in the late 60s this is well worth a listen.

Both the vinyl and sleeve of this first press record are in excellent (EX) condition, with a clear spine and very minor creasing in the top right hand corner.

Records graded visually to RRPG grades (record/sleeve). We recommend the record is cleaned by a professional to maximise the sound quality.
