In Uttar Pradesh, women’s land rights are all wrong. Legal experts and social development practitioners who studied land rights found that women were being denied access to land when the law said they should have access to it, such as land purchased by their fathers.

Oxfam Unwrapped helped fund campaigning work, like printing and distributing posters about women’s land rights to help educate and mobilise communities. We also worked with local governance committees to encourage them to take up the issue, and to include women in decision making processes.
