HIV and AIDS has touched too many children in Malawi. They may be orphaned, sick themselves, or caring for stricken family members.
Projects funded by Oxfam Unwrapped, like this one in Chiradzulu District, give children all the practical, emotional, financial or medical support they need to stop this killer disease destroying the rest of their life.
We provide care and support for HIV and AIDS patients, and vocational training for orphans and other vulnerable children, to put them back on their feet. The Health and HIV and AIDS project has targeted 81 villages. It is run in partnership with the government, and has improved access to medication, care and support. It also prepares communities to better respond and manage the impact of the pandemic.
We work on a number of levels to improve the welfare of the poor who are most affected by the impact of HIV and AIDS. A particular concern are those households with chronically ill people, orphans, and female-headed households. They shouldn’t have to cope on their own, and people helped by this gift won’t have to.
