Odhams Press, undated (COPAC 1930), First thus. Hardback, bound in blue cloth with title and portrait of Dickens on front cover, border framed in holly and mistletoe, all in gilt; 8vo., 92 pp, specially illustrated by Gilbert Wilkinson and with a Foreword by Sir John Martin-Harvey; D/J. Book condition: VG, folio with Title Page and Foreword detached; light foxing on the edges of the text block and on some pages, front cover slightly curved but binding tight and no inscriptions. D/J condition: VG, 1 cm tear to front bottom edge; browned with age, not clipped; now in removable plastic sleeve. As explained on the rear of the D/J, this was a gift edition, specially prepared for children, to accompany a Library of the Complete Works of Charles Dickens produced by The Daily Herald. It was the idea of Sir John Martin-Harvey, a Dickens Character actor. This is a rare edition, especially with the D/J.
