American Book Design and William Morris

£55.00

Product description

This fascinating book provides the bibliophile with a comprehensive history of the development of book design in America, with particular emphasis on the influence of the Kelmscott and William Morris movement.

Susan Otis Thompson is a teacher on the history of books and printing at Columbia University.

The book is in very good condition, protected by a buff dust jacket with red border design and title etc in black lettering on the front, and in red letters on the spine. The jacket has suffered some loss at the top of the spine, but is now itself protected by a mylar sleeve, and shows no other signs of wear. The book itself is bound in similar buff-coloured cloth with the same border design to the front cover. Inside, the binding is firm, there is no sign of wear or use, and an inscription in biro from the author to Herman Kapp adorns the front free endpaper. Another owner's name is at the top of the half-title page. A one-off for the student of book production and design.
