Antique Microscope Slides with Microscope Etc. Not known

£90.00

Product description

The wooden box with hinged top and front contains 12 frames each with spaces for 12 microscope slides. The box is seen to contain more than 100 slides prepared in the Victorian manner, but without the preparer's name. Many carry hand-written labels identifying the seed, mineral or animal part. The box appears to be complete, but is scratched and marked on the outside.
The small, single-lens Luximette microscope is enclosed in a dedicated wooden box with a removable, slide-up door. It appears to be complete and clean, but the objective lens is cracked. A 4.6cm dia shallow glass dish, small box of 1/4oz glass micro circles (quantity not checked) and 3.7cm dia hand magnifier are also enclosed. A small tobacco tin containing blank slides is also included.

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
