Product description

Oxford University Press, 1921 (Humphrey Milford), First thus. Book condition: Good for its age; no d/j. Hardback bound in red boards with colour frontispiece illustration inset on front cover; 157 pp. Many black and white pictures plus colour frontispiece. Front and rear paste-downs feature a beautiful map of the Bustingforth Country. The cover displays its age, the copy of frontispiece inset on front cover is slightly damaged, with dirt and scuff marks on the front, spine frayed at hinges, rear cover has usual fading and dirt marks (see images). Inside the text block is tight and there are no inscriptions; there is some foxing and browning but really very good indeed. This is now a very rare and much sought after book and is in good reading condition, with only the cover really displaying the age of the book. This was E.A.Wyke Smith's first book and was written for his children at their request; he was one of the inspirations for Tolkien.
