Departmental Ditties

£50.00

Product description

'Departmental Ditties' was Rudyard Kipling's first collection of verse to be published. The book is a collection of over thirty poems and is number sixty eight (handwritten) of only one hundred and fifty copies printed. Also included are 15 beautiful illustrations by British artist Dudley Cleaver.
The book is in remarkably good condition given its age, however, there are two small marks on the front of the book and several more on the back. There are signs of bumping at the top and bottom of the cover and the spine. Inside, the front endpage bears an ink written inscription and the inside of the cover bears faint pencil written notations. The last page has some very pronounced fading along the right hand side of the page and the back cover and facing page have foxing, most notably at the bottom of the book. There is also a smudge of 1.5 cm on page 99. The remainder of the uncut pages are clean and bright and the binding is tight.
