Frozen Glory

£29.99

Product description

'Frozen Glory' was the fourth play by Leslie and Sewell Stokes. First performed at the Gate Theatre Studio on 10 February 1938, it was about polar exploration.

The Stokes brothers collaborated in writing plays, but it was Sewell Stokes (1902-1979) who had the more prominent profile, being a novelist, biographer, playwright, screenwriter, broadcaster and prison visitor. His brother Leslie was an actor, and in later life a BBC radio producer; for many years they shared a flat overlooking the British Museum.

The book is in excellent condition, appearing almost unused. Bound in black boards with gilt title etc on the spine, it has no signs of wear, and the only defect is a 3 cm-wide tanned strip on both front and back endpapers (see photo). The pages are clean and bright with no markings. The unclipped D/J is also in excellent condition, undamaged, and only slightly soiled at the extreme outer edges (to be expected in view of its age).
